In this video I document the process fixing up the 1985 Schwinn World Sport that I picked up on Craigslist.
I discovered after taking it apart that part of the rear frame was bent. Thankfully I was able to bend it all back and straighten things out.
I cleaned up as many original parts as I could, like the bottom bracket bearings and cranks and front gears. I completely replaced the wheels and rear gear and derailleur. The 700C wheels actually were wider in the rear than what the frame was built for so I also widened the frame using a “Cold Setting” technique.
Everything came together quit nicely, including the rear rack. Now I’m able to carry larger loads when we go grocery shopping or on longer bike trips.
